City Tour of Cordoba


Jeronimo Luis de Cabrera founded Córdoba, the capital of Córdoba province, in 1573 as one of the first Spanish colonial capitals in Argentina. Now Argentina´s second largest city, it is the educational center of the country, home to seven universities, and growing in commercial importance with a booming automobile industry and expanding tourism. The city boasts the country´s best-preserved colonial architecture that contrasts the more modern buildings representing progressive economic growth. The influence of the Jesuits can be seen throughout the province, but especially in the city´s breathtaking 17th century Manzana Jesuitica (Jesuit Block), underground Jesuit crypts, and la ¨Universidad Nacional de Argentina¨, the country´s oldest university.

Road Of The Jesuit Estancias


The town Jesus Maria, 48km north of Cordoba city, is home to one of the finest Jesuit Estancias in the province. The estancias were built in 1618 as a Jesuit settlement, making wine to support their university in colonial Cordoba. We will also visit the Amphitheatre of Taming and Folklore, the Caroya Colony, the church, and finally reach the Estancias Santa Catalina. We stop at the Chapel of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and continue south to the National Historical Monument, Chapel of Candonga which dates back to 1730. Crossing through El Manzano Salsipuedes and Rio Ceballos, we make our way back to Cordoba.
