Ushuaia is the Capital of the Province of Tierra del Fuego, Ushuaia is the southernmost city in the planet.
Ushuaia -which in the yámana language means “bay overlooking the West”- is surrounded by Mount Martial to the West and by Mounts Olivia and Cinco Hermanos to the East. Located on the shores of the Beagle Channel, it offers a unique landscape, which combines mountains, sea, glaciers and forests.
With a whimsical geography, Ushuaia has adapted its features to modern construction, thus developing a ve ry quaint city. It has a very good hotel and gastronomy infrastructure which pleases the expectations of international visitors.
As a result of its location, close to the South Pole, in the summer it has approximately eighteen hours of light, whereas in the winter, it only has seven or eight.
Its people, its origins, its mysticism and its nature are discovered in every step we make. Ushuaia: the end of the world, the beginning of everything.
Detailed Itinerary:
Day 1
Arrival to Ushuaia (-)
Upon arrival to Ushuaia, reception by our representatives and transfer to the hotel.
Overnight in Ushuaia.
Day 2
Half Day National Park / Beagle Channel Navigation (B)
Early departure to Tierra del Fuego National Park. the only national protected area of the island. The park is located 12 km to the west of Ushuaia City, near the international limit with Chile. Within the park, you will appreciate the local flora composed by beech trees and different kinds of bushes and flowers. Fauna in represented by natives and introduced animals , such as reddish foxes, beavers, rabbits and many species of birds (more than 90) . Ensenada Bay, Roca Lake and Lapataia bay are the touristic places that we visit, including some short walks near the lake, beaver dams and Lapataia Bay. At the end of the national park, we reach the finish of the national route Nº 3, located 3063 km far from Buenos Aires. After 4 hours of excursion we return to Ushuaia
In the afternoon We will set off from the tourist port, sailing along the Ushuaia Bay and the Beagle Channel, where we will see the southernmost city of the world, surrounded by an exclusive landscape, the combination of mountains, forest and the sea. We will observe the Montes Olivia and Cinco Hermanos (Olivia and Five Brothers), Estancias Fique and Tunel (Tunnel and Fique Ranch). Continuing with our trip, we will arrive at the Faro Les Eclaireurs (Les Eclaireurs Lighthouse). There, we will see a small colony of Rocky or Magallanic Cormorants. Sailing back, we will get closer to the Isla de los Lobos (Sea Lion´s Island) just to enjoy these curious and really nice marine mammals and the Isla Despard (Despard Island), the natural habitat of the Imperial Cormorants. During the trip, we will enjoy big diversity of marine birds, such as the southern giant Petrels, black-browed albatross, Southern American terns, gulls, and little seagulls. Sailing between the Bridges Archipelago and though the Paso Chico, we will go back to the City Ushuaia. Once back and getting closer to the Ushuaia Bay, admire the impressive frame offered by the Ushuaia City.
