BOLIVIA
Destination: Santa Cruz, Samaipata, Misiones De Chiquitos, Sucre, Potosí, Uyuni, La Paz and Lake Titicaca
Duration: 13 Days / 12 Nights
You’ll have two ways to start the program in Santa Cruz, the first visiting the area of Samaipata and its ruins and Amboró National Park with the amazing La Yunga giant fern forest or the Jesuit Missions of the Chiquitania, both will join together on the fourth day:
Optional:
- Extension from Uyuni towards the south to REA (Reserve Eduardo Abaroa) and continue to San Pedro de Atacama in Chile.
- Extension from Copacabana in Lake Titicaca to Puno in Peru.
Detailed Itinerary:
Day 1
Arrival to Santa Cruz – City Tour:
Reception at the airport and transportation to your hotel. Where a guide from our office will give you all the detailed program and operations of this program.
In the afternoon you’ll have a 3 hour tour to the most attractive and affluent sites of the city: visit to the zoo where regional fauna and various endangered species can be seen. Museums, principal monuments, residential neighborhoods, and La Recoba handcraft market.

A) Samaipata Ruins and Amboro National Park
Day 2
Santa Cruz - Samaipata (B,L,D)
Trip through the Amazon plains and last branches of the Andes range. Visit the Samaipata ruins, majestic and mysterious pre-Inca ruins, located in the top of a hill with a big ceremonial center carved in the stones. Continue to Samaipata, a stroll of town and its local museum, located in a valley between mountains of the range, in a nice cool weather.

Day 3
Samaipata – La Yunga (Amboro NP) – Santa Cruz (B,L)
In the morning trip through the town of Mairana to La Yunga in the Amboro National park, it’s a great giant fern forest that you’ll walk through its trails to see a rich and diverse jungle, with good birding. Return to Samaipata, lunch and trip back to Santa Cruz.

B) Jesuit Missions of Chiquitos
Day 2
Santa Cruz – San Javier - Concepción (B,L,D)
Trip crossing the prairie of the Chiquitania, passing Rio Grande and San Ramón to the Jesuit Mission of San Javier, a nice colonial town with its impressive church. Then through open savannas and forest to the town of Concepcion, the largest centre of the Missions, with an amazing Jesuit church.

Day 3
Concepción – Santa Cruz (B,L)
In the morning you’ll have time to enjoy the beauty of this town, then visit the largest repair shop for all the restoration done in these Jesuit Missions of Chiquitos. Trip back to Santa Cruz.

Day 4
Santa Cruz – Sucre (B)
In the morning flight (11.00 am) to Sucre with both transfers.
Afternoon free to enjoy this nice colonial city, declared Cultural Heritage Site by UNESCO.

Day 5
City tour – Cretacic Park and Dinosaur footprints in Cal Orcko (B,L)
In the morning you’ll do the tour including its main museums and churches, as well as the parks and cemetery, visit the Indian textile museum of ASUR. Enjoy a traditional lunch.
In the afternoon visit of Cal Orck’o (5 km) to see the world’s largest paleontological site, with over 5,000 dinosaur tracks or footprints from the Cretacic period.

Day 6
Sucre – Potosi – City tour (B)
Trip in bus following different valleys to ascend through the highlands to the mining city of Potosi.
Afternoon visit of the Mint House, traditional colonial streets, San Francisco and San Lorenzo churches.
Overnight in Potosi.
Day 7
Mine in Cerro Rico – Trip to Uyuni (B)
Visit a mine to see the remains of the silver production done in colonial times until present times in the famous Silver Mountain.
Afternoon trip to Uyuni, crossing branches of the Andes range, old mining centres and villages, with nice landscapes.
Overnight in Potosi.
Day 8
Full day Uyuni saltflats (B,L)
Trip to the village of Colchani in the shores of the saltflats, to see locals producing salt, trip crossing this natural wonder of salt with over 10,000 km2 to the village of Coquesa, in the foothills of the Tunupa Volcano to see the mommies, continue trip to “Isla Incahuasi”, a special habitat of giant cactus and volcanic rocks. Trip back to Uyuni.

Day 9
Uyuni – Oruro – La Paz (B,L)
Private transportation towards north to Oruro, crossing a big portion of the highlands (5 hours) and then take a regular bus to La Paz (3 hours).
Overnight in La Paz.
Day 10
Tiahuanaco ruins – City tour (B,L)
Trip to Tiahuanaco (72 km) passing the highlands, one of the oldest American cultures, considered the cradle of the American man. Visit the temple of Kalasasaya, Gate of the Sun, monoliths Ponce and Fraile, Akapana pyramid and Semiunderground temple, as well as the two local museums. Return to La Paz with lunch near the Valley of the Moon that will be visited.
In the afternoon city tour including street markets, rich in handicrafts, weavings and witchcraft artifacts. Then San Francisco church, the Gold and Murillo museums and Murillo square with the Congress, Government palaces and Cathedral.

Day 11
La Paz – Lake Titicaca – Island of the Sun (B,L,D)
Transportation to Copacabana (3 hours), a nice town in the shores of Lake Titicaca, crossing the highlands. Boat to the Island of the Sun (1 hour), land near the Pilkokaina ruins and have a typical aptapi. Hike to the Ecolodge La Estancia (1 hour).

Day 12
Island of the Sun – Copacabana – La Paz (B,L)
DON’T MISS A GREAT SUNRISE! Take a boat to La Chincana, to see this great and well preserved Inca ruins, continue in boat to the Moon Island, visit the Iñak Uyu ruins, then boat to Copacabana to visit the famous Virgen Morena, its great colonial church and a stroll of town. Transportation to La Paz.
Overnight in La Paz.

International Departure (B)
Transfer out to El Alto International Airport for your departure flight.
