Detailed Itinerary:
Day 1
Santa Cruz – San Javier – Concepción (L,D)
Morning departure, crossing the Rio Grande River and eastern lowlands of the Chiquitania to the first Mission church of San Javier, where you’ll have lunch and a visit. Its imposing temple has been proclaimed Cultural Heritage Site of Humanity by the UNESCO. On the way you may observe a varied flora and fauna of this unique transitional Seco Chiquitano forest. The tour continues to the town of Concepción which is one of the most important Jesuit constructions. Its colonial, baroque-style temple has been proclaimed also Cultural Heritage Site of Humanity by the UNESCO.
Overnight in Concepcion.
Day 2
Concepción – San Ignacio de Velasco (B,L,D)
Breakfast at the hotel. Visit to the Concepción Church and artisan workshops, tour of the town, its local museum and surrounding areas. Departure crossing the lowlands to San Ignacio.
Overnight in San Ignacio, the largest town of the area and a big commercial center.
Day 3
San Miguel – Santa Ana – San Rafael (B,L,D)
After breakfast at the hotel, begin a circuit of the Minors Jesuit Missions, visiting the little towns and its great Mission churches of Santa Ana, San Rafael and San Miguel, returning to San Ignacio for lunch. In the afternoon visit the San Ignacio restored church and surrounding areas.
Overnight in San Ignacio.
Day 4
San Ignacio – Santa Cruz (B,L)
After breakfast return to Santa Cruz with a stop in Concepción for lunch.
