Detailed Itinerary:


Day 1
La Paz – Oruro – Tahua (L)

Trip from La Paz in bus to Oruro (3 hours), then transportation crossing the Quillacas highlands and crater of Tambo Tambillo to Tahua (5 hours), village in the shores of the saltflats. Enjoy a great sunset.

Overnight in Tahua.


Day 2
Tahua – Uyuni saltflats – San Juan (B,L,D)

Transport and hike to a natural viewpoint of Chillima and ruins of Pucara, then descend hiking to the saltflats (3 hours), transportation south visiting Campana Island (1 hour), lunch. Exit of the saltflats in Chuvica (1 hour), to enter the southern highlands to the village of San Juan (1 hour).

Overnight in San Juan.


Day 3
San Juan – Uyuni – Oruro (B,L)

Morning visit of the local museum and the necropolis to see ceremonial tumbs. Trip north through the southern area of influence of Uyuni saltflats, crossing the villages of Julaca, Rio Grande, to finally visit the cemetery of old trains before the town of Uyuni (3 hours). Day use of the hotel to take the midnight train to Oruro (6-7 hours).


Day 4
Oruro – La Paz (B)

Arrival to Oruro and transfer to the bus terminal, bus to La Paz (3 hours).
