This city, that have started in the apologetic dream of the Italian missionary, Joao Bosco, almost one century before, practically started after that long time, to being raised to the purpose of hosting the Brazilian capital. The city has been erected from the very start considering that specific aspiration. Its construction ended in 1960 and four years later it was officially pronounced as the Federal Capital of Brazil, despite of been very distant from the sea. It is also a paradigmatic example of harmonious growth, with a functional and modern structure.
According to that idea of “a capital to all the Brazilians” the politician and “at that time” the elected president of Brazil, Juscelino Kubitschek, had assumed as main priority of his government the attainment of the project, and as well pass the capital from Rio de Janeiro to this new city. With external support (machinery, cash appliances, for instance) and the competence of the universal Brazilian architect, Oscar Niemeyer, the dream started to get shape and became itself in an outstanding reality.
With an architectonic style, overturned to the facilities and the modernism of structures and buildings, Brasilia is a living example of urban management directed to the properly optimized functions of the city’s systems.
The cities has been developing itself, since then, and nowadays have about two million inhabitants, number that largely exceeds the original project preview number of 700.000 inhabitants.
The city detaches by its planned neighborhoods destined to the administrative workers, the government’s structures and buildings, the main offices of courts, banks and embassies, as well of the traffic control systems and the magnificent avenues.
