City Tour


The tour will have its first stop at the Amazon Theatre, inaugurated in 1896, the main highlight of the city. A symbol of the Rubber era, all the richness and grandiosity of those golden ages are still reflected in the halls, saloons and masterwork pieces of art part of it. Then the tour will continue to Rio Negro Palace, former official seat of the State Government and fine example of architecture of the Rubber golden age (1890- 1910). Some fine architecture styles are also present in the popular houses also known as “palafitas”, built over the river’s prolongations (swamp) areas called Igarapés by the locals.  Visit to the Indian Museum, at the Congregação Salesiana, the best place to understand the traditions, uses and usages of the native’s populations on the Rio Negro highlands. Visit to the Municipal Market Adolpho Lisboa, where the participants will have a privileged sight of the Floating Harbor of Manaus. Return to Hotel.  Sundays and holidays the museums and the Amazon Theater are closed.

Special Fishing Tour


Departure in high speed boat, mailing through the Rio Negro, Solimões and Amazons, with specialized guide’s assistance that using simple amateur fishing equipments, will choose the best fishing spots to capture the famous ‘pirañas’, the ‘jaraqui’ and other typical fishes of the region. The best fishing period is within the month of October and March.

Meeting of the Waters


Departure from the Tropical Hotel’s pier, sailing across the Rio Negro, allowing to have sights of the center of the city, the floating harbor, the Alfandega building and the Municipal Market, heading then to the Meeting of the Waters, place where the Rio Negro and the Solimões river meet with their parallel waters for 9 kilometers without mixing and joining to form the Amazons River. The tour will stop for some minutes to see this phenomenon and eventually to see some ‘boto’ dolphins, typical dolphin specie of Amazons. Then the tour will head to the Ecological Park of Janauary, where the participants will get on board of a motor canoe to know the igarapés (entanglements of the river), igapós and secondary rivers that links the Rio Negro and the Solimões river (depending on the water’s level), and a region of outstanding beauty of its varied and exuberant vegetation forms. Return to the Hotel.
