Chile is one of the most geographically diverse countries in the world. Located in the southern tip of South America and spanning several climate zones, a narrow strip of land running north-south for more than 2,800 miles. Set between the Andes Mountains and the Pacific Ocean, Chile´s lakes, rivers and coastline support an amazing diversity of trout fishing environments. Fly fishing in Chile is like visiting several different countries.

Detailed Itinerary:

Day 1

Welcome to Coyhaique, the biggest urban centre of the region. After a 3 hour flight from Santiago to Balmaceda airport our personnel will pick you up and bring you to the Hotel. After a distance of 70 kms from the airport we will prepare a picnic for you. Continuing on the way to the Hotel you can see the spectacular scenery of the beautiful Lake General Carrera, the second biggest lake in South America.
On arrival at the Hotel you will check in, be offered a welcome drink and depending on the arrival time we will continue our schedule which consists of going to the area known as “La Pasarela” or “Desagüe”, just a few kilometres away from the Hotel. Here you may admire the confluence of the General Carrera and Bertrand lakes.
Here is where you may start your first fly fishing activity, assisted by an experienced guide, in an area where capture is almost guaranteed, enjoying at least 4 hours of exciting activity.

Day 2

This a full day excursion, beginning with travelling from the Hotel to Bertrand port in one of the hotels vehicles, specifically to the Baker river area, where we have our own land, facilities and direct access to the shores of these magnificent turquoise blue waters.
Aboard motor boats, our guides will transport you to special fly fishing areas. These activities could vary upon the guides’ suggestion, but always with the guests agreement to make an interesting trip that besides showing varied scenery will also allow you to know and admire the beauty present along, arguably, the most beautiful Chilean river, where species such as rainbow trout and fario are present in abundance, a fact well known by local fishermen.
In order to make of this excursion even more pleasant, a box lunch is also included.

Day 3

Again a full day excursion. The day starts with travelling in one of the hotels vehicles along the south side of the Lake General Carrera. We travel towards Chile Chico passing through Guadal Port and after approximately 29 kms we reach El Maiten river, specially recommended for fly fishing because of its wide range of species and also because it is fordable along its almost 4 kilometres length, which go through beautiful forests before reaching the area where it meets General Carrera lake.
Finally after the morning fishing, and a little break to enjoy the delicious box lunch provided, we come back by vehicle to the Maqui river, the nearest to Guadal and the hotel. We then start a new and exciting fishing experience, on a river that stands out due to its impressive waterfall, magnificent vegetation and abundant fishing.
Arriving back at the hotel during the afternoon, you’ll enjoy a delicious dinner and the opportunity to enjoy other activities provided at the Hacienda.

Day 4

This is a full day excursion. During this day you will have the chance not only to enjoy great fishing but also to visit a unique place, endowed with a special beauty, absolutely recommended to be seen.
This excursion will take you to Cochrane zone, 68 kms south of the hotel. Along the Austral Highway, it is possible to admire numerous natural attractions, such as the confluence of the Baker and Nef rivers. Further along the Austral Highway you arrive at the town of Cochrane and the lake and river, both also named Cochrane, is here that the first fly fishing of the day will take place, at an area especially apt for this kind of fishing, where the fast waters flow, quite crystalline, allowing excellent size trout to be caught.
Throughout the whole day support from a guide and at certain locations a motor boat will be provided. At lunchtime you will have the opportunity to rest a while and enjoy the box lunch, specially prepared by the hotel chef.
Later on, you can continue fly fishing at Tamango, ending in the late afternoon. As usual, dinner and all the other amusements available at the hotel will be waiting for you on your return.

Day 5

Half day activity, which takes place on the shores of General Carrera Lake, starting from our own dock; in a motor boat at El Maiten and following the west shore of the impressive General Carrera lake northwards so that advantage is taken of the different beaches suitable for fishing, ending at “La Pasarela” sector (seen during the first day) where the lake forms a short but wide river with an impressive current, which gives origin to Bertrand lake.
We suggest reducing the activity on this day to a half rather than complete day so that on the final day, our guests may take advantage of their last afternoon at the Hacienda and enjoy the other facilities offered by the hotel, such as the sauna, hot tubs, riding, library, soft trekking, swimming and many others.

Day 6

Depending on the time of your flights departure, after breakfast or lunch, you will be brought to the airport under the same comfortable conditions offered on arrival. Once again, you will be accompanied by our guides offering the necessary attention, regarding needs and anything required.
Making your stay in our Hotel a unique and unforgettable experience and your happiness is our main goal. Thus, your desire to return and the satisfaction of having.
