Located on the west shore of Llanquihue Lake, Puerto Varas is considered one of the most beautiful cities in Chile. It clearly shows its Germanic influence, having been founded in the mid XIX century by German colonists under appointment of the Chilean Government.
From the very beginning it was characterized by a tourist focus. Today Puerto Varas offers the visitor magnificent landscapes, good hotels and restaurants, a modern casino and lakeshore beaches. During the summer a variety of open-air cultural activities take place in the city.
Detailed Itinerary:
Day 1
Arrival to Puerto Varas – City tour of Puerto Montt & Puerto Varas
Upon arrival at Puerto Montt airport, we offer a welcoming reception do a orientation tour of Puerto Montt with visit of the Fishmarket Angelmo and continue to Puerto Varas. Check in at the hotel.

Day 2
Puerto Varas – Option 1: Visit Peulla or Option 2: Chiloé Island
Option 1: Navigation to Peulla (11 hrs)
We go on a boat trip to the beautiful island of Peulla which is situated in the Todos los Santos Lake. We depart early in the morning from Puerto Varas to Petrohué and enjoy impressive views of the volcanoes Osorno and Calbuco that dominate the scenery here. When we arrive at Petrohué we have 30 minutes break before the boat leaves to Peulla and crosses the Todos los Santos Lake. If the weather conditions allow it we will be able to see volcano Osorno, the Puntiaguado hill and the Tronador from our boat. After our arrival at Peulla we visit the ecological villa which is a true paradise for nature enthusiasts. A couple of hours later we return to Puerto Varas.
Option 2: Chiloé Island – Ancud (8 hrs)
It is well-known for its wooden houses and churches, boasting their magnificence all around the main square. Seven Spanish colonial towers surround a replica of the Ancud schooner, a "Chilotan" vessel which took possession of the Straits of Magellan in 1843. The promenade is also of great interest to tourists, since from it one can obtain interesting views of Quetalmahue Gulf and its beautiful inlets as well as Lacuy Peninsula. Ancud is located at the northern tip of Grande Island and has a population of 23,854. It was founded on August 20th, 1768 by the Spanish brigadier Carlos Berenguer. It is currently the area of Chiloe most in contact with continental Chile. It is 1109 kilometers from Santiago and 30 kilometers from Puerto Montt. Return to your hotel.

Day 3
Puerto Varas – Frutillar
Frutillar German Style Village (5 hours)
Frutillar is located at the Llanquihue Lake in front of the Osorno Volcano and counts 15.500 people. Historically it has been a very important city as it was the place where the first German colonies settled. Frutillar is famous for its music festival “Las Semanas Musicales de Frutillar” that came into being in 1968 and that compromises concerts, operas, choir and jazz music. Another remarkable characteristic of Frutillar are the houses in German style, the beach and the beautiful gardens in the town. You can visit the German Colonial Museum, the amphitheater and the Forest reserve Edmundo Winckler.

At the scheduled time, we will transfer you to the airport in Puerto Montt to take your departure flight.
