There are ample opportunities also to experience the rural life of this area of the country and learn about the industrious ethnic groups of Otavalo.
Day 1
Quito/ El Angel
Drive North to the Imbabura province and from there on to Carchi for Polylepis Lodge, with a unique patch of relic Andean forest. Spend the afternoon in the area where excursions into the forest are planned. This is a perfect place to experience the solitude of the moorlands.

El Angel
A day to explore the area, visit the Polylepis forest as well as the moorlands with the Frailejones, which are characteristic of this area

El Angel/Otavalo
Drive back to the area of Imbabura the province of the lakes visiting on the way the artisan centers of San Antonio de Ibarra and Cotacachi.

Mornings to explore the Indian market of Otavalo, lunch in the area and in the afternoon return back to Quito
Located at 2530 meter above sea level we find the everlasting fertile, Province of Imbabura, these magical lands surrounded by lakes are cradle of artists, histories and living pre-Inca cultures.
We will visit Peguche, a picturesque and messy little town whose habitants are famous for their weaving abilities on hand made looms in vivid colors representing figures of the Andean Region. At Peguche, the art of coloring wools have became a recreational game where traditions, norms and rules end up in an incredible blend of hammocks, textiles, sweaters, etc, that the community exhibits with proud and color.
Together with the weaving industry, the community of Peguche, following with their ancestral traditions, is well known for the manufacture of wind instruments like the Sikus, Kenas and charangos, here we found the House of the Instruments whose walls bring us memories of the Andean music representing the song of nature, water and air.
In the area, we also find the strong and artistic hands of the people of San Antonio. Art studios with wood, stone and ceramic sculptures that represents the Quito school of art that transmit us the spirit of the indigenous villages whom had kept this Spanish cultural manifestation within a lot of generations.
All this artistic towns, commercialize their art in the Otavalo Market, beyond a shopping tour this tour teach us the work, traditions and customs of our indigenous communities.
This full day visit enhances the more brightness scenarios and natural elements of the Northern Andes; it guide us through the everlasting fertile Imbabura Province whose landscapes simulate a giant oleo spattered with lighting natural colors.
The Condor Park: As a tribute to this loyal representative of the Andean Cultures and located in an strategic hill with an incredible panoramic view of Imbabura, Cotacachi, Otavalo and Peguche we found the Condor Park, a non-profit organization dedicated to the research, protection, rehabilitation and reintroduction of this emblematic bird as well as the other birds of prey of this area like eagles, cultures, owls and hawks.
The Cuicocha Lagoon: The Cuicocha lagoon with an altitude of 3.068 meters above sea level is located at the foothills of the magnificence Cotacachi Volcano and is part of the Ecological Reserve Cotacachi - Cayapas.
Additionally to its scenic beauty, at Cuicocha we found a very important variety of Andean flora and fauna mostly birds and mammals as well as ornamental and medical plants.

Drive North to the Imbabura province, our drive will take approximately 2 hours to the Otavalo market (Otavalo is located at 114 Km north of Quito). Visit the market and its various plazas to observe what is available: fresh fruits, vegetables, cereals as well as the ample display of tapestries, ponchos, Indian jewelry, hats among other interesting handicrafts of the area.
Overnight at the selected hosteria of the area.
Day 2
Otavalo/Quito
Visit the artisans centers of San Antonio de Ibarra and Cotacachi as well as some of the Indian communities located around the San Pablo Lake. After lunch drive back to Quito.
These three days include several highlights of the area : The Indian market where will have the opportunity to visit the various Plazas to observe what is available on the market, fruits, vegetables, cereals as well as the area where there is an ample display of: Tapestries, ponchos, Indian jeweler, hats among other interesting handicrafts of the area; the artisans centers of San Antonio de Ibarra and Cotacachi, as well as the African American and Indian communities located around the lake San Pablo and Chota Valley. There are ample opportunities also to experience the rural life of this area of the country and learn about the industrious ethnic groups of Otavalo. Spend the morning in the market, which offers the possibilities for shopping of: Tapestries, Indian Jewelry, Ponchos and other handicrafts. Lunch will be at one of the Hosterias of the area.

Otavalo / El Chota/Otavalo
Drive north to the El Chota Valley, a desert valley where there is a settlement of black people. The drive has wonderful panoramic views of the changes of the different climatic zones from mountains for lowlands and long extensions of Sugar Cane plantations.
Overnight at selected hosteria or hacienda of the area.
Day 3
Otavalo /Quito
Visit the artisan centers of San Antonio de Ibarra and Cotacachi, lunch and come back to Quito.
Drive North to the Imbabura province, our drive will take approximately 2 hours to the Otavalo market. These two days include several highlights of the area: The interesting Ecological Reserve of El Angel as ell as the Otavalo Indian market where will have the opportunity to visit the various Plazas to observe what is available on the market, fruits, vegetables, cereals as well as the area where there is an ample display of: Tapestries, ponchos, Indian jewels, hats among other interesting handicrafts of the area.

Drive north to El Angel Ecological Reserve, which will take around 4 hours. Upon arrival lunch and then in the afternoon enjoy of the excursions in the area.

El Angel/Otavalo/Quito
Morning depart from El Angel to start driving back to Quito on the way visit the Otavalo Indian market with the opportunity of shopping in the market, which offers : tapestries, ponchos, Indian jewels and other handicrafts.
These three days include several highlights of the area: The Indian market where will have the opportunity to visit the various Plazas to observe what is available on the market, fruits, vegetables, cereals as well as the area where there is an ample display of: Tapestries, ponchos, Indian jeweler, hats among other interesting handicrafts of the area; communities located around the Chota valley. Drive North to El Angel, our drive will take approximately 4 hours to the Ecological Reserve of El Angel, afternoon excursion in the moorlands.

Day 2
El Angel / Otavalo
Morning excursion in the area of El Angel with its beautiful scenery of moor lands and the Polylepis forest. After lunch drive back to Otavalo visiting on the way the town of El Chota and Ibarra.
Overnight in the Otavalo area in of the Hosterias.
Day 3
Otavalo/Quito
Morning visit to the Otavalo Indian market with the opportunity to do some shopping of the handicrafts found in the market. After lunch start drive back to Quito
