The easternmost region of Ecuador hosts the most pristine and remote part of the gigantic Amazon Basin, yet easily accessible from Quito and other highland cities.  Safely venture into the world’s largest remaining tropical rainforest, where more than one third of the earth’s fresh water flows, our planet’s largest supplier of oxygen, and home of an immense biological diversity which explodes into thousands of unique species.

At first glance the rain forest is a vast green ocean of wilderness.  But, observing carefully, you will be amazed by the richness and variety of animal and plant species, thousands of colorful birds and butterflies, myriads of bizarre insects, medicinal plants, elusive but equally fascinating varieties of mammals, reptiles, amphibians, living on this last frontier, criss-crossed by small and large rivers, creeks and lakes, teeming with life and unique surprises at every corner.

Day 1
Quito – Misahuallí (La Casa del Suizo) (L,D)


For those more interested on seeing the gradual change from the temperate highlands to the Rain Forest these excursion will offer the adventure of crossing the Andes and dive into the forest admiring the transition between these two super different environments. Plenty of photography and dramatic scenery change together with various jungle lodge destinations which can offer a wide and deep view of the Amazon on its own dimensions.

Days 2 -3
Misahuallí (La Casa del Suizo) (B,L,D)

La Casa del Suizo is a tranquil Amazonian refuge located on the shore of Ecuador`s majestic Napo River and a stone`s throw away from the eastern slopes of the Andes Mountains.

Perched comfortably above the riverbank and the small Quichua Indian village of Ahuano, La Casa del Suizo overlooks vast expanses of the surrounding tropical rainforest.

Each morning the guests may trek and paddle through the lush, primary rainforest which surrounds the Lodge. The native guides posse’s vast knowledge of the diverse local fauna and flora, as well as the medicinal uses of many plants.

Itineraries at the Lodge are flexible depending the number of days and passengers preferences.
