Detailed Itinerary:


Day 1
Arrival to Lima (-)

Arrival at the airport, reception by our representatives and transfer to the hotel. If arrival flight permits, optional city tour through the colonial and contemporary areas of Lima and visit to the Larco Museum.

Overnight in Lima.


Day 2
Cusco: City Tour & Nearby Ruins or Horseback Riding in Sacsayhuaman Complex (B)


Early departure to the airport to board your flight to Cusco. Our staff will welcome you and take you to the hotel. Morning at leisure to get acclimatized to the altitude. In the afternoon, your choice of a classic City Tour and Nearby Ruins or Horseback Riding in the Sacsayhuaman Complex.

Overnight in Cusco.


Day 3
Sacred Valley: Ollantaytambo & Pisac Market or River Rafting (B/L)


This day we will be driven to the Sacred Valley. You will have the choice to select a full day excursion to the Pisac Market and the Ollantaytambo Fortress, or for more active travelers, a half day tour of white water rafting or mountain biking.

Overnight in Sacred Valley.


Day 4
Inca Trail - Piscacucho (Km.82) / Wayllabamba (B/L/S/D)


Through the Sacred Valley, we head toward Ollantaytambo where we will stop for our last shopping and to visit the surrounding areas of the town. We will continue on to the village of Piscacucho (2750 meters above sea level) where we will be registered at the control point and start an easy walking for acclimatization until we reach a natural observation point from where we will see the archaeological complex of Llaqtapata. Next, we will continue on to our campsite in Wayllabamba (3,000 meters above sea level).

Route: 10 Km.
Highlight: Panoramic view of Llaqtapata.
Meals: snacks, lunch and dinner.

 
Day 5
Inca Trail - Wayllabamba / Pacaymayo (B/L/S/D)


We will start our journey through the Valley of Wayllabamba, where we will observe nature and the ecological change of the area, until we arrive at a place called Yunca Chimpa, where we get ready for the ascent to Llulluchapampa (3750 meters above sea level). While we enjoy a refreshing snack, we can see the Valley of Huayanay and the challenging pass of Warmiwañusca (4,200 meters above sea level) also called “of the dead woman”. After ascending the first pass, we will descend to Pacaymayo (3600 meters above sea level) where lunch and a well-deserved rest are waiting for us at the end of the hardest day on the Inca Trail.

Campsite: Pacaymayo
Route: 10 Km.
Highlight: Pass of Warmiwañusca
Meals: snacks, breakfast, lunch and dinner.


Day 6
Inca Trail - Pacaymayo / Wiñaywayna (B/L/S/D)

This day we will ascend to the second pass, called Runkurakay (3860 meters above sea level).  The route is longer but less difficult and there will be plenty of archaeological sites, among which we will visit the complex of Sayacmarca (3580 meters above sea level). Next, we will ascend Phuyupatamarca (3640 meters above sea level) where we will have lunch. Finally, we will continue on to Wiwaywayna (2650 meters above sea level) for visiting and camping. If you like, you may also visit the terraces of Intipata. During our dinner, we will have a meeting of cultures to interact with the members of our trekking team, specially assistants and porters, coming from the communities surrounding the Sacred Valley. 

Campsite: Wiñaywayna
Route: 16 Km.
Highlight: Runcuracay, Sayacmarca, Wiñaywayna.
Meals: snacks, breakfast, lunch and dinner.


Day 7
Inca Trail - Wiñaywayna / Intipunku / Machu Picchu / Cusco (B/L)


We are so anxious that we leave at dawn toward Intipunku or the Gate of the Sun, from where we will admire the “lost city of the Incas”, Machu Picchu (2400 meters above sea level). We then descend to visit the citadel with our guide, who will show us the most famous places of the citadel’s urban and agricultural areas. If you are fit enough, it will be possible to ascend the Huayna Picchu or “Young Mountain” to have a panoramic view of the sacred site and visit the Temple of the Moon. At the scheduled time, we will take the bus to Aguas Calientes, where we will board the train toward Cusco.

Route: 6 Km.
Highlight: Intipunku y Machu Picchu.
Meals: snacks and breakfast.

Overnight in Cusco.

Optional: Additional Night in Aguas Calientes / Machu Picchu

Add one extra night in Aguas Calientes or Machu Picchu and have the opportunity to make a second visit to the Inca citadel to explore it on your own and discover a piece of living history in every corner.


Day 8
Cusco/Lima – International Departure (B)


It’s time to say good bye to the navel of the world, we will be taken to the airport to board our flight to Lima. Upon arrival, assistance to board your international departure flight.
