Length: 5 Days / 4 Nights
Detailed Itinerary:
Day 1
Early drive to Misminay. Upon arrival, a welcome committee will greet you and give you an orientation tour. After lunch you will help to make adobe bricks, which will be used for local constructions.
Overnight in a local home.
Day 2
After breakfast, you will get involved with the community by participating in their farming activities. You will learn their ancestral techniques and use farming tools that date back to pre-Inca times. After lunch the women will teach you how they make textiles from the collection of wool and natural dyes to the use of the loom, a wooden Instrument used to weave attractive designs on their products.
Overnight stay in the community.
Day 3
After breakfast you will begin intensive Quechua lessons, learning some basic vocabulary. Following lunch, you will visit a school to have a fun afternoon decorating a classroom, paining a colorful and happy place for the students. After dinner you can star gaze outdoors, and familiarize yourself with the stars from our southern hemisphere.
Overnight stay in the community.
Day 4
After breakfast you will continue your Quechua lessons and be quizzed! Following lunch, your
cooking lesson will begin with a walk in the fieldsto handpick ingredients for the farewell dinner. The ladies will help you prepare and cook dinner before you all sit at a campfire together. This is when your Quechua grades and certificates will be handed out!
Overnight stay in the community.
Day 5
Breakfast and then a morning walk to Moray to visit its circular terraces, which were once used
as a botanical laboratory by the Incas. You will be able to see how they were able to learn about diferent plant species and adapt them for human consumption. After the visit, you will return to the city of Cusco.
