Employees
Our employees are our most valued asset. We ensure good work ethics and a safe work environment by maintaining an open dialogue with our workers.
We value and respect diversity when hiring, and believe in participative management, fair payment policies, professional development, employees’ health, good conditions and safety at work, personal and family development, retirement plans, fair dismissals, and good treatment of subcontracted personnel.
Our office staff has access to numerous training sessions, national inspection trips, the development of career paths, and scholarships. We also hold training sessions every March/April for the Misminay community in Cusco, Peru.
Clients
We have a policy of Excellence in Service. We are the first tour operator in the region to have obtained the ISO 9000 international quality certification. All of our passengers fill out questionnaires at the end of their trips and we take their comments very seriously. We respect our clients’ privacy.
Providers
We work towards the further development of our providers, which is why we invite them to our training sessions and inspections, have taught good management practices for restaurants, and have personally trained the people who work on the Inca Trail. Condor Travel aims to work with providers who share our social responsibility philosophy of offering our clients the highest quality while respecting our communities and the environment. We have already approached some of our providers to teach them about CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) and ask about their projects.
Community
We promote the participation of the communities in which we operate by contracting local guides, drivers, and executives. We are currently working on a pilot program (PROJECT MISMINAY) in a small Andean community that we hope to replicate throughout the Andean region. This project is so promising that we now count on the support of some of our clients and providers. Passengers are welcome to visit the rural communities that we work with and experience rural life in the Andes.
Environment
Some people say that we are an industry without chimneys so we don’t have to do much to counteract greenhouse effects, and other environmental problems. We believe that every one of us should play an active role in protecting our planet so we are focusing on the following:
- Energy-efficient offices: we reduce, re-use and recycle paper and are reducing the use of water and light.
- Helping to decrease the negative impacts that tourism has on the environment through education.
- We monitor our vehicle’s gas emissions and clean the litter on the Inca Trail.
- Non-printings policies supported by technology.
- A small reforestation project in Cusco.
Shareholders/Corporate Government
Our shareholders guide us and support our business. In order for our company to be aligned with CSR principles, we have updated our code of ethics, mission and vision statements, and are improving good corporate governance.
Government and Society
Our company fulfils all legal obligations and we are a role model to many companies in Peru for our high level of legality and transparency. We are patron members of Peru 2021 (www.peru2021.org), members of an elite CSR committee that is made up of 7 of Peru’s most important companies, and are one of Sustainable Travel International’s (www.sustainabletravelinternational.org) Premium Partners.
We are currently working with the local and national government on developing new destinations and in promoting rural tourism and inclusive businesses.
Communication Commitment
We believe that our knowledge about CSR must be shared. Because of this, we give interviews and presentations about CSR, sustainable tourism and our projects to other companies, students and governmental offices. We believe that if we are all aware about our positive and negative impacts on the planet, we will take an active role in improving our habits and behavior.
As a result of these presentations, we are adding bright people to our staff, people who can relate to our commitment and ethics. We have also improved our relationship with both providers and clients and increased their participation in our projects.
